Tom Homann's first experience with ceramics was in high school. Since then, his craft has evolved into an exciting expression of texture, color and form. His latest passion is a glaze created from the wood ashes of his own fireplace. He mixes the ash and glaze until it reaches the perfect consistency, then fires his pieces to 2400° Fahrenheit. His deep earth tones and powerful shapes are clearly influenced by the Japanese culture he experienced in California, and the English and early American potters he has studied in his travels. Tom now lives in Middlebury, Vermont, where he has a studio and a devoted following of gallery owners.
