Todd Piker’s wood fired kiln produces pottery with rustic elegance. It’s easy to see why this mug has become a favorite. A slightly flared mouth opens wide and a tapered waist sits easily between your hands. Handcrafted in an amber palette, each piece will have its own distinctive markings.
Todd Piker’s wood-fired kiln produces pottery with rustic elegance. It is the actual firing process that gives each ceramic piece its "glaze". The wood firing creates an uneven glaze -- those in the kiln closest to the wood may have a complete red glaze look, while others may have an uneven white and red look, and still others may be mostly white. Using this technique, potters don't glaze the ceramic. The glazed look comes from the firing. And since it is a wood-fired mug-- the "glaze" look will always be uneven-- and that is considered the beauty of wood fired products. Each piece has its own distinctive markings.
Todd Piker's newest mug for us repeats his familiar faceted stylings. The slightly flared mouth opens wide, and the faceted sides give you something solid to grip. Handcrafted in an amber palette.
